Lewis says loss to Hunt was 'most likely' his last fight

The Octagon may have seen the last of "The Black Beast."

Moments after falling to Mark Hunt by fourth-round TKO in the main event of UFC Fight Night 110 in Auckland, New Zealand on Saturday, heavyweight Derrick Lewis revealed the bout was "most likely" the last of his career.

Visibly exhausted both late in the clash and after it, the 32-year-old revealed he'd been plagued by a lower-back injury dating back to 2011. He added that with he and his significant other a week from tying the knot, he didn't want to put his family through the emotional rigors of the hurt business.

"It's probably my last fight," Lewis said after the fight. "I'm getting married next week, and I don't like putting my family through all this, and that'll be my last fight.

"Most likely it'll be my last fight in the UFC."

Lewis may have been acting on impulse, given the announcement's proximity to the stoppage and his past refusal to heed his own call for a break from a hefty workload. Saturday's tilt marked his seventh in only 20 months, and while he'd vowed to take three months off after sustaining a broken foot in his February win over Travis Browne, he subsequently wasted little time in accepting a date with Hunt that ultimately snapped a division-best six-fight win streak.

If Lewis does indeed call it a career, he'll hang up his gloves with a UFC record of 9-3 and a professional slate of 18-5, including 16 wins by knockout.
