Squad Up Daily Fantasy PGA Preview: AT&T Byron Nelson

The Squad Up PGA game features a couple of different tournament types. The main weekly contests will focus on the entire tournament, with golfers receiving both positive and negative points for scoring; any golfer finishing inside the top 10 at the end of the tournament will also get a placing bonus. The other contest will occur daily for each round. These will focus solely on in-round scoring without rewards for the standings.

Lineups consist of five golfers. Unlike other daily fantasy PGA sites, Squad Up divides each individual roster spot into its own player pool. The player pools are based on the Official World Golf Rankings, with the overall caliber of each pool being relatively similar.

Per FantasyInsiders, the key stats to monitor for this week are Driving Distance (DD), Par 4 Scoring Average (P4S), Strokes Gained: Around the Green (SGAG), Birdie or Better Percentage (BoB).

Group 1

• Top Play - Brooks Koepka (90K): Koepka was the runner-up at TPC Four Seasons in 2016, and he finished second at the Valero Texas Open five weeks ago. He finished 16th last week and at this event in 2015. He's a strong statistical favorite with ranks of 44th in SGAG, ninth in BoB and eighth in DD. He's the No. 4 favorite, per Bovada.

• Value Target - Ricky Barnes (25K): Barnes will make a ninth consecutive appearance at this event, with just two missed cuts in his first eight tries. He has made each of his past four cuts this seasons, with a high finish of 22nd at Zurich Classic team event. He's not a statistical fit but experience should get him to the weekend.

• Fade - Matt Kuchar (91K): Kuchar has three top-10 finishes at the Byron Nelson in his past six appearances. Only two other players in the field have as many top-10 results in the same time span. Since his fourth-placed showing at the Masters, however, he hasn't finished inside the top 10, and he placed just 82nd last week.

Group 2

• Top Play - Dustin Johnson (108K): Johnson is the heavy tournament favorite at 9/2. He has never won this event, but he does have four top 10s and no missed cuts in seven appearances. He pulled off a 12th-placed result at THE PLAYERS Championship last week. No one in the field matches the world No. 1 on a key stat level, as Johnson ranks first in DD, second in P4S, sixth in BoB and 38th in SGAG.

• Value Target - Brandon Hagy (25K): Hagy has played in 14 events this season, making just nine cuts, but he has compiled good statistics. He ranks fourth in DD, 43rd in SGAG and 45th in P4S. He was off last week, but he had made his three previous cuts.

• Fade - Marc Leishman (78K): Leishman missed the cut at THE PLAYERS and at last year's Byron Nelson. His worst rank in the four key stats is a 40th in DD, but his best is just a 30th in P4S. He has finished third in this event on two occasions, but he hasn't had a top-10 result in eight weeks (three events).

Group 3

• Top Play - Tony Finau (54K): Finau has played this event in each of the past two years, finishing 12th in 2016 and 10th in 2015. He missed the cut at THE PLAYERS and in his previous event, but he finished third at the Valero Texas Open. Finau ranks ninth in DD and seventh in P4S.

• Value Target - Robert Garrigus (25K): Garrigus ranks in the top 50 in three of the four key stats. A rank of 177th in SGAG is his lone blemish. He has had two top-10s at this event in the past five years, including a fourth-placed result in 2016. He comes with risk, as he has missed each of his past four cuts.

• Fade - Brandt Snedeker (82K): Snedeker has a sneaky sixth-placed result at the Byron Nelson sandwiched between two missed cuts in the past three years. He hasn't played an event since the RBC Heritage.

Group 4

• Top Play - Charley Hoffman (62K): Hoffman hasn't been in contention since his collapse at the Masters. He has two top 10s in his past three tries at this event, spread out over the last four years. He ranks 45th in P4S and 48th in BoB for 2017.

• Value Target - Xander Schauffele (25K): Schauffele has key stat ranks of 29th in DD, 30th in P4S and 40th in BoB. This will be his first appearance at the Byron Nelson, but he enters with consecutive made cuts and top-25 finishes. He was off last week.

• Fade - Louis Oosthuizen (77K): Oosthuizen's strong showing at THE PLAYERS is sure to get him more attention this week. He has appeared at this event just four times, all in the past five years, missing the cut twice and withdrawing once. He ranks just 115th in BoB and 63rd in DD.

Group 5

• Top Play - Ryan Palmer (43K): Palmer missed the cut here last year, one after finishing 10th. It was, at the time, his third top 10 at the Byron Nelson in a five-year span. He missed the cut last week, as well, but he had a fourth and a sixth in his two previous events.

• Value Target - Bud Cauley (28K): Cauley came fourth here last season, and he placed in the top 10 in each of his past three events this year. His top rank in a key stat is a 48th in DD. His course history and recent form aren't indicative of his bottom-tier salary.

• Fade - Charl Schwartzel (92K): Schwartzel missed the cut at THE PLAYERS. He finished 58th at this event in 2016 and 78th in 2015. He ranks just 71st in DD, 118th in BoB, 164th in SGAG and 182nd in P4S this season. He is just 50/1 to win this week, odds which don't match such a high salary.
