Ohio State says JaQuan Lyle quit team in April

Ohio State guard JaQuan Lyle, who was charged with three misdemeanors early Saturday morning, quit the team April 11, a team spokesperson said Saturday, according to Tim Shoemaker of Eleven Warriors.

Lyle was taken into custody in his hometown of Evansville, Ind., around 2 a.m., after he was escorted out of a local bar and then allegedly punched the front door of the bar and a nearby police car.

The 21-year-old was charged with public intoxication, criminal mischief to a vehicle, and disorderly conduct. He was released on $150 bond.

Lyle's exit from the program - and the fact that it was kept a secret for more than a month - is quite the shock, given his stature on the Buckeyes. Lyle started 23 games last year and ranked third on the team in scoring with 11.4 points per game and first in assists with 4.6 per contest.

The former four-star recruit has been removed from the school's online roster page. He spent two seasons with the program.
