Kobe: 3rd straight Warriors-Cavaliers Finals not bad for NBA

Never before in NBA history have the same two teams advanced to The Finals three years in a row, but the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors appear ready to buck that trend.

Former Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant doesn't understand the hubbub being made by fans over the road to the Larry O'Brien trophy becoming a two-team race.

"Why is that bad for basketball? That makes no sense," Bryant told ESPN's Jackie MacMullan. "Just because it's preordained that's a bad thing?

"I know I'm going to wake up in the morning. Is that a bad thing? I don't think it is."

Both the Cavaliers and Warriors have swept their way through the first two rounds of the playoffs, with Cleveland knocking off both the Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors, while Golden State blew past the Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz.

They're the first pair of teams to begin the postseason with 8-0 records, while the reigning champion Cavaliers are the first to do so in back-to-back years.

Bryant helped guide the Lakers to The Finals on seven occasions, capturing the title five times (2000-02, 2009-10).

While his personal schedule hasn't allowed him to catch much of the action over the past few weeks, Bryant added he'll try to watch more of the games when time permits.
