Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer revealed this week that he's had a total of seven surgical procedures on his right eye.

Zimmer suffered a detached retina during the 2016 season and missed the Vikings' Week 13 game as a result.

The ailment required emergency surgery and has yet to be fully corrected.

"I had (eye surgery) April 17 and April 25. So, hopefully we're done. We'll see," Zimmer said during a media availability Friday. "I had two (surgeries) in eight days."

He admitted his running count is up to seven surgeries, yet he's starting to believe his vision in the eye will not be restored.

"Yeah, I hope now, but I don't think it's going to happen," he said. "We'll see."

Zimmer also revealed he's certain to undergo an eighth procedure. He's scheduled for cataract surgery when he turns 61 next month, according to Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
