Yankees' Greg Bird: Lands on DL with bruised ankle
Bird was placed on the DL on Tuesday with a bruised right ankle.
Analysis:
Apparently Bird has been dealing with the injury since the end of spring training, and it seem the issue may have contributed to his recent troubles at the plate. Over the last seven games, Bird had gone just 1-for-15 (.067), which brought his line down to .100/.250/.200 for the season. In a corresponding move, the Yankees recalled Rob Refsnyder from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. With Bird on the disabled list, look for Chris Carter to see more time at first base.
