Lamar Odom: Drugs killed my drive to train, be in shape
After an almost fatal drug overdose essentially ended any hope of an NBA comeback, Lamar Odom says he's officially sober after completing a rehab stint in January.
The former NBA champion opened up about his troubled past, admitting his drug use is the main reason why he hasn't played an NBA game since 2013.
"My life was all about drugs at that point," Odom told Ian Drew of US Weekly. "It probably helped the end of my career come along a little faster because drugs killed my drive to want to train and be in shape."
Odom said drugs were also a large factor in his failed marriage to reality television star Khloe Kardashian, who was aware of Odom's habits well before their breakup.
"She was disappointed. So was I," Odom said. "The sad thing about it is, I don't know if I was disappointed because I was actually doing the drug or because she caught me. She knew I was doing cocaine the whole time after that. It was my drug of choice. I'm not going to say she accepted it because that would be the wrong word. Tolerated would be a better word.
"If there is one thing I regret when I was married, it was having multiple affairs with different women," he added. "That wasn't the stand-up thing to do."
Khloe filed for divorce Dec. 13, 2013, but it wasn't finalized until almost two years later.
