Have faith in Washington
POS | NAME | OPP | FPPG | SALARY |
---|---|---|---|---|
C | Nicklas Backstrom (WAS) | vs. ARI | 19.9 | 61K |
LW | Jeff Skinner (CAR) | at NJ | 17.8 | 47K |
RW | T.J. Oshie (WAS) | vs. ARI | 20.5 | 51K |
D | P.K. Subban (NSH) | vs. SJ | 16.8 | 46K |
G | Braden Holtby (WAS) | vs. ARI | 29.1 | 86K |
Despite a plum home matchup against Arizona, Washington's prime assets are all reasonably-priced, namely Backstrom and Oshie, two-thirds of the team's first line and top power play unit. It's hard to imagine Holtby not recording a win. Subban could compound San Jose's misery, and Skinner has been scoring well, with six goals over his last four games.

Dare to be different
POS | NAME | OPP | FPPG | SALARY |
---|---|---|---|---|
C | Leon Draisaitl (EDM) | vs. COL | 18.4 | 51K |
LW | Brad Marchand (BOS) | at NYI | 22.7 | 68K |
RW | Jordan Eberle (EDM) | vs. COL | 13.3 | 56K |
D | Mark Giordano (CGY) | at STL | 15.4 | 35K |
G | Jonathan Quick (LA) | vs. NYR | 23.3 | 85K |
The earlier lineup was fairly straightforward, so to emerge from the mass of similarly-constructed lineups, some risks will have to be taken. Quick has shutout potential, having allowed just nine goals in six home starts. Draisaitl has been incredibly productive of late, but may not be as popular a selection as Connor McDavid. Marchand's salary may limit his ownership, as could Eberle's inconsistency. Giordano is capable of a fine, all-around performance.
