Are Saints' Thomas, Cooks beefing over trade talk?

With the New Orleans Saints receiver Brandin Cooks reportedly looking to be traded out of the Big Easy, it appears there may be a disagreement among Drew Brees' pass-catchers.

During the 2016 season, Cooks was reportedly unhappy with the amount of targets he was getting and his use in the Saints' system. The man getting the majority of the targets was first-year receiver Mike Thomas, who finished the season setting several franchise records for a rookie.

With trade rumors for Cooks heating up, Thomas sent a cryptic tweet Sunday potentially implying the reason his teammate wants to go to a new team is jealousy.

About an hour later, Cooks responded to Thomas' potential subtweet with a reference to Drake's "Back to Back" on Twitter, but quickly deleted the tweet.

Likely after seeing Cooks' tweet, Thomas stated that his comments weren't directed at his teammate, but rather lyrics to a new song by rapper Don Q.

Thomas may be sincere in explaining his use of words or he could have realized how quickly fans caught onto his comments. Either way, Cooks' show of defensiveness seems telling of his current relationship with the Saints.
