The Philadelphia Phillies have settled with second baseman Cesar Hernandez on a deal for 2017 avoiding the process of arbitration, the team announced.
Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports Hernandez will earn $2.55 million in the new deal.
Hernandez had requested to earn $2.8 million through salary arbitration, while the Phillies countered at $2 million. With the settlement, Hernandez will earn $155,000 above the midway point (2.4 million) between both sides.
The 26-year-old put together a solid season for Philadelphia at the plate last season, slashing .294/.371/.393 with a MLB-best 11 triples in 155 games.
He's under contract with the Phillies through the 2020 season.
