The Matthews Bowl: Cousins Jake, Clay face off for trip to Super Bowl

Would you step over your own family member to reach the Super Bowl?

The Green Bay Packers' Clay Matthews and Atlanta Falcons' Jake Matthews will have to do just that when their teams meet in the NFC Championship on Sunday.

"I know it's going to be a challenge for me. I'm excited about it, looking forward to it. And I'm confident," said Jake, the Falcons' left tackle, about facing the Packers' sackmeister, according to Steve Hummer of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

As the host of Sunday's NFC title game, Jake also hosted nine members of his Hall of Fame family that will be in attendance for the matchup.

Jake, 24, is the son of legendary offensive lineman Bruce Matthews. His cousin Clay, 30, is the son of former linebacker Clay Matthews Jr.

Regardless of what happens on Sunday, there will be a member of the Matthews family competing in Super Bowl LI.

"At least one Matthews is going to make it to the Super Bowl," said Bruce. "Hopefully it's Jake."
