Report: Mets, Orioles talking potential deal for outfielder, Brach
The Baltimore Orioles are in need of an outfielder, and although they made multiple offers to free-agent slugger Mark Trumbo, they may have found themselves a different option.
Baltimore is in discussions with the New York Mets about making a trade and one player they'd like to nab from the Orioles is Curtis Granderson instead of Jay Bruce, a source told FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
Rosenthal writes that the Mets like Orioles reliever Brad Brach, and ESPN's Buster Olney confirms New York's interest in the right-handed All-Star.
The Mets aren't ready to eat any of the $15 million (Granderson) or $13 million (Bruce) salary of the outfielding pair, according to the New York Post's Joel Sherman, so discussions between the two clubs may be at a standstill.
Granderson, 35, hit .237/.335/.464 for the Mets last season to go along with 30 home runs and 59 RBIs, while Bruce only put up a .219/.294/.391 slash line across 187 plate appearances with New York after coming over in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds.
The 30-year-old Brach appeared in 71 games for the Orioles in 2016, posting a 2.05 ERA and 1.04 WHIP over 79 innings out of Baltimore's bullpen.
