Penn State honored the 50th anniversary of Joe Paterno's first game as head coach of the Nittany Lions on Saturday versus Temple with a video tribute that received a standing ovation from the crowd.
It was the first of three videos the Nittany Lions showed Saturday, all of which have sparked some controversy.
Unsealed court documents uncovered in July allege that Paterno knew about abuse allegations made towards former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky as early as 1976 and dismissed the complaint.
Some Temple fans decided to protest the tribute.

Sandusky was convicted of 45 counts of sexual abuse and sentenced to 30-60 years in prison. He is currently appealing.
