Report: Jarrett Stidham to leave Baylor program

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Baylor quarterback Jarrett Stidham has joined the long list of players leaving the Bears football program, according to David Smoak of ESPN-Central Texas.

Stidham had confirmed his loyalty to the program back in May, when Jim Grobe was named head coach, on Instagram when he stated:

"Can't wait to get back on that grind tomorrow with my brothers. This year is going to be different than the rest in many ways, but either way we will make a statement to everyone. Excited for the opportunity God has presented this team with to overcome adversity and become even closer as a family. Stick with us Baylor nation, we got this."

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound signal-caller has reportedly enrolled at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas, which will retain his eligibility. Stidham can now sit out the year then transfer to any program he desires in 2017 with three years of eligibility remaining.

Stidham replaced Seth Russell at quarterback, when Russell suffered a season-ending neck injury last year, throwing for 1,265 yards and 12 touchdowns.
