Raiders sign Damontre Moore
The Oakland Raiders have signed free-agent defensive end Damontre Moore, head coach Jack Del Rio confirmed Monday in an appearance on "The Jim Rome Show."
Moore, a former Texas A&M standout, was considered by many to be a potential first-round pick ahead of the 2013 draft.
An underwhelming combine performance appeared to affect his draft stock, though, and he ended up slipping to the New York Giants in the third round.
Moore went on to spend two-plus seasons in a Giants uniform to start his NFL career, racking up 8.5 sacks across 42 games before a locker-room altercation led to his release from the team late in the 2015 campaign.
He played the final three games of the year with the Miami Dolphins, but was again released shortly after this year's draft.
Moore will compete for a roster spot during training camp with Oakland, presumably having the opportunity to earn a depth pass-rush role on a suddenly strong defensive front.
