Utah State's Chris Copier suspended after drugs, weapon charges
Utah State tight end Chris Copier has been suspended indefinitely after being arrested on multiple drug and weapons violations.
Copier was charged with six counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and an additional count of distribution of, or arranging to distribute, a controlled substance, reports Michael McFall of The Salt Lake Tribune. The 24-year-old was also hit with a weapons charge.
Both crimes are felonies and carry potential prison terms of up to 15 years. Police allegedly made multiple buys from Copier before arresting him. Upon searching his vehicle, authorities found a 1/4-pound of marijuana and 46 ecstasy pills. Further search of his home turned up a handgun, $1,600 in cash, mushrooms, Xanex, and more marijuana.
While Copier played in 10 games last season, he caught only one pass and was predominately used as a blocker and on special teams.
