San Jose State names Ron English defensive coordinator
San Jose State head coach Ron Caragher has appointed Ron English as his defensive coordinator, the school announced in a statement.
English returns to college football after his last gig ended in unceremonious fashion. The former Eastern Michigan head coach was fired on Nov. 8, 2013. A day later, it was revealed that athletic director Heather Kyle caught wind of a tape that shows English using excessive vulgar language in a team meeting.
English apologized for his remarks, which included homophobic slurs, and has been looking for a job ever since.
"Ron English has experience as a coordinator at the Division I level and as a head coach at Eastern Michigan," Caragher said. "His experience and success in coaching will be a great addition."
Prior to joining EMU, English held defensive coordinator jobs at Michigan and Louisville.
The school also tabbed Arnold Ale as the linebackers coach, Will Harris as the defensive backs coach, and Barry Sacks as the defensive line coach.
