South Carolina defensive end Shameik Blackshear faces neither criminal charges, nor internal discipline, stemming from a December incident in which he was shot multiple times, according to coach Will Muschamp.

"Shameik was a victim, as far as I'm concerned," Muschamp said Saturday at the South Carolina men's basketball game, according to John Whittle of The Big Spur. "That’s the information I have."

Muschamp added Blackshear is on track to make a full recovery from injuries sustained in the shooting, and should be able to continue his football career.

"They believe so," Muschamp said, when asked if Blackshear will eventually stick his hand back in the ground. "But again, let’s just worry about the young man’s health at this time."

Blackshear played in only two games during his freshman campaign. However, the 250-pounder is a former four-star recruit, and still boasts major upside as he heads into his sophomore season, if he returns to full health.
