When Mackensie Alexander was deemed good to go for the national championship, Clemson was likely hoping it would be for more than one quarter.

Alexander was ruled questionable before the game with a right hamstring injury, but injured his left hamstring in the second quarter in a collision with Derrick Henry. He's been ruled out for the game, according to the ESPN broadcast.

He was helped to the sideline by trainers, and had his leg wrapped in ice on the trainers table before going back to the locker room with the assistance of the training staff.

Alexander's absence will be tough to cope with for the Tigers, as he's their top cornerback.
