Former Ohio State star Maurice Clarett charged with OVI
Former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett, who starred on the Buckeyes' 2002 BSC national championship team, was arrested Sunday and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, Ohio State Highway Patrol told The Columbus Dispatch.
Clarett was reportedly pulled over by Ohio State Highway Patrol and taken into custody after he refused field-sobriety and blood-alcohol tests. The 32-year-old was said to be swerving erratically on I-71 in Morrow County, and was stopped by police after changing lanes without signaling. He has a court date set for Thursday.
Clarett has had numerous run-ins with the law. He was released from a halfway house in 2010 after serving three-and-a-half years in jail for robbery and concealed weapons charges.
In 2012, he released a book detailing many aspects of his troubled life.
