Luke Falk named Washington State's starting quarterback
Washington State coach Mike Leach confirmed the obvious Tuesday night, naming Luke Falk the team's starting quarterback for the season opener against Portland State on Sept. 5.
Leach announced the widely expected decision after the day's practice, reports Jacob Thorpe of The Spokesman Review, concluding an anti-climatic quarterback contest.
Falk, a redshirt sophomore, appeared in six games last season, starting the Cougars' final three outings. He completed 156 passes for 1,859 yards, 13 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, averaging 309 yards per game.
In his first career outing against Oregon State, he threw for 471 yards and five touchdowns, racking up the most yards and touchdowns thrown by a Cougar quarterback playing in their first game.
