LSU's Leonard Fournette on Reuben Foster tackle: It was the 'biggest hit I've ever taken'

LSU running back Leonard Fournette credited Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster on Thursday for delivering the largest wallop he has ever taken during the teams' overtime thriller last November.

Fournette, though, qualified his praise by stating that the major collision didn't cause any significant pain, but instead had surprised him.

"It was the biggest hit I've ever taken," he said at SEC Media Days, according to Michael Casagrande of AL.com. "It really didn't hurt, it was unexpected. It didn't hurt at all. I didn't see it coming at all."

The tackle came in a kickoff following Alabama kicker Adam Griffith's last-second field goal, which capped off a nine-play, 55-yard drive in the final minute. Alabama would then win the game in overtime on a DeAndrew White touchdown catch and final defensive stand.

Foster's massive hit ignited the Crimson Red's sidelines, coming with only seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

"I talked to Reuben (and) I told him nice shot," Fournette added. "So hopefully I will get a chance to meet Reuben."

Alabama coach Nick Saban credited the hit for energizing the Crimson Red, saying after the game that this sort of "energy and enthusiasm is contagious and really helps."
