Georgia's Faton Bauta on quarterback contest: It's 'just gonna be fun'

Georgia quarterback Faton Bauta is looking forward to the crowded competition for the starter position with the Bulldogs.

"It's gonna be such a fun competition, and something I’ve been preparing for for God knows how long. It’s just gonna be fun," he said, according to Seth Emerson of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Bauta will face off against sophomore Brice Ramsey and Virginia transfer Greyson Lambert for the prominent role. Freshman quarterback Jacob Park transferred out of the program earlier this offseason.

Although Ramsey is still seen as the prohibitive favorite, Bauta is believed to have made ground with a strong performance in spring practice.

The 6-foot-2, 222-pounder is refusing to complain about the expectedly fierce battle, saying all members of the team's offense are facing similar challenges.

"I've got competition. Everybody else has competition around them. Every position is gonna have to compete," he added. "We've just gotta get 11 guys ready to play. That's all."
