The Bulldogs are looking to add a Cavalier to their roster.

Head coach Mark Richt confirmed to the media Tuesday at the Pigskin Preview in Macon that Georgia is recruiting former Virginia quarterback Greyson Lambert.

Lambert announced his intent to transfer in May after dropping behind Matt Johns in the depth chart during spring practice, according to Yahoo Sports' Graham Watson.

Starting nine games for the Cavaliers last season, Lambert threw for 1,972 yards and 10 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. Since he has graduated from Virginia, he will be be eligible to play immediately.

Lambert would be entering a Bulldogs team with three other quarterbacks - Brice Ramsey, Faton Bauta, and Jacob Park - competing to replace Hutson Mason, who was recently signed by the Washington Redskins.

"It's just like I've said all along: First of all, everybody's gotta compete with whoever’s there. We recruit every year," Richt explained. "It's an interesting dynamic of the timing. But it's really not a whole lot different than recruiting anybody. Every year we recruit. Every year we bring in guys. Every year you go compete for your job and win it."

Lambert will have two years of eligibility with the next program he joins.

"If there's a transfer who has the talent base to help you win, then you recruit him, you talk to him," said Richt.
