Air Force head coach: four team playoff is "un-American"
There's no sugar coating it: Air Force head coach Troy Calhoun hates everything about the college football playoffs - especially the fact that only four teams from Power 5 conferences can take part in it.
“There’s no doubt that it’s all set up for five conferences, as it is,” he said in an interview with the Colorado Springs Gazette's Brent Briggeman. "You’ve got to be in one of those five conferences."
The outspoken Falcons coach went on to add that he believes the playoffs should be expanded to either eight or 16 teams. He also took issue with how much strength of schedule is emphasized during the process.
“It’s un-American, bottom line. We live in a country where upward mobility is possible, where games should be played out on the field,” he said.
