Notre Dame football graduate assistant Kyle McCarthy announced on Tuesday that he's officially cancer free after undergoing chemotherapy and surgeries.

The former Fighting Irish safety was diagnosed with Stage 3 testicular cancer last July, causing him to take a leave of absence from the football program in August.

McCarthy played in 12 games over two seasons for the NFL's Denver Broncos.
