Famed Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell to guest pick on 'College GameDay'

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The man whose work in Afghanistan was made into the movie "Lone Survivor" will take on the tough task of picking college football games Saturday.

Marcus Luttrell will be ESPN's guest picker when the "College GameDay" staff takes over Tuscaloosa, Ala., according to Cecil Hurt of The Tuscaloosa News.

Luttrell, reportedly a guest of Alabama head coach Nick Saban, is expected to speak with the No. 5 Crimson Tide before their game against No. 1 Mississippi State, according to Andrew Gribble of AL.com.

The retired Navy SEAL survived a 2005 gunfight with the Taliban in which three of his colleagues were killed. He had walked several miles to seek refuge in an Afghan village after his rescue helicopter was shot down.

He was played by Mark Wahlberg in the 2013 movie portraying his life.
