South Florida's Andre Davis breaks school record for career receiving yards

David Manning-USA TODAY Sports

South Florida receiver Andre Davis became the school's all-time leader in receiving yards Saturday against No. 19 East Carolina when he caught a 25-yard pass in the second quarter.

The senior pass-catcher recorded six catches for 124 yards and a touchdown, propelling him past Carlton Mitchell, who piled up 1,648 yards from 2007-09. Davis has now registered 1,710 yards since his freshman year in 2011.

His best season came last year, when Davis posted 49 catches for 735 yards and a pair of touchdowns as a junior.

Davis missed the previous four games with a bruised sternum he received while making a 44-yard catch in a win over Western Carolina on Aug. 30.

“We had an extra week to prepare, so I prepared really well,” Davis told GoUSFBulls. “Coach had a good game plan and I just went out there and did what I was supposed to do.”
