VIDEO: Philip Rivers' brother reads play-call upside-down for Vanderbilt, throws pick-6

This is by definition a play gone awry before it even started.

Vanderbilt had a bizarre quarterback blunder involving the brother of San Diego Chargers quarterback, Philip Rivers, in its 44-17 loss to No. 13 Georgia, according to The Tennessean.

Down 27-10 in the third quarter, the Commodores brought in backup pivot Stephen Rivers to replace starter Wade Freebeck. On the ensuing drive, Rivers looked down at his wristband and read a play-call upside down, and it panned out just as terribly as you could imagine.

"(Rivers) looked at the wristband wrong (because) 60 was the play call, but 90 is what he called. He sort of flipped it, got it confused," head coach Derek Mason said. "In the end, it just wound up being a bad play."

A bad play indeed. Mason said he realized the offense was lined up for the wrong play at the snap and before a timeout could be called, worst-case scenario happened in the form of Bulldog Devin Bowman.
