No. 1 Florida State survives in overtime, holds off No. 22 Clemson
The 22nd-ranked Clemson Tigers gave the top-ranked Florida State Seminoles a run for their money in Tallahassee in Saturday's marquee matchup, but the Seminoles prevailed in overtime by a score of 23-17 to maintain the nation's longest active winning streak.
Sean Maguire started in place of Jameis Winston at quarterback for the Seminoles, completing 21-of-39 passes for 305 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions.
The big play of the game belonged to Florida State running back Karlos Williams, who ran around the left edge for a 12-yard touchdown in overtime to seal the victory.
Clemson freshman quarterback Deshaun Watson completed 19-of-28 passes for 266 yards, adding 30 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Florida State will head out on the road to take on N.C. State next Saturday.
