8 new college football uniforms you need to see

Steve Mitchell / USA TODAY Sports

The start of college football season is always an exciting time of year - and not only because we get to watch the premier young talent in the nation perform at their best.

It's also our first chance to check out all that sweet new equipment. Jerseys, helmets, gloves, they all give college football that extra edge and cool factor that make you want to tune in even more.

Here are eight new college football uniforms you need to see.

Arizona State

Arizona State's new helmets are looking real sharp these days - yes, we hate ourselves for that pun. Regardless, the trident design is a stellar look this season and the copper makes these "Desert Fuel" helmets really pop.

Kansas

These Toucan Sam-flavored uniforms have been met with mixed reviews by fans and media alike. That said, there's no denying the fact Kansas' new uniforms catch your eye - for whatever reason.

Louisville

I'm not sure if it's the ad that makes these jerseys appear so awesome, but Louisville's "Blackout" uniforms look just as mean as they sound. Keeping it simple with a black base and red trim, these jerseys are downright nasty - in the best possible way.

Miami

These jerseys just scream Miami. The orange and green classics get a new spin in this Nike update and the U has never looked better. That coupled with a pair of alternating two-tone gloves makes the Hurricanes a team to watch this season and not necessarily because of their on-field play.

Nebraska

Adidas has outdone themselves with the new Nebraska "Red Rising" uniforms, which boast a clean red with black trim. They might not be the best team in the Big Ten but they're definitely the team with the coolest alternate jerseys.

Oregon

Oregon has always had some of the best jerseys in college football so it's not much of a surprise that their new "Mach Speed" uniforms also fit the bill. These are great any way you slice it.

UCLA

People have had mixed feelings about UCLA's "LA Steel" uniforms but there's something eye-catching about that blue and gold design. We're not really sure what all those zigzags in the background are about though.

Washington

Washington is all class with these black, white, gold, and purple uniforms, which are pure royalty. Nothing insanely flashy, but the right combination of colors that make these instant classics.
