Auburn QB Nick Marshall's fine paid, case closed in marijuana citation
Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall's fine for marijuana possession has been paid and the case is now closed, according to Reynolds, Georgia police chief Lonnie Holder, via AL.com.
Marshall's mother, Shalena Cliett, paid the $1,100 fine after the quarterback was cited for possessing less than one ounce of marijuana and for illegal window tint on his vehicle.
Marshall would have been required to attend a court date on Sept. 10 if the fine had not been paid.
Auburn head football coach Gus Malzahn has not yet announcement what, if any, punishment will be issued against Marshall on behalf of the team.
Malzahn cancelled Marshall's scheduled appearance at SEC Media Days, and also did not attend the ESPYs. The university's athletic drug policy does not require Marshall to miss any playing time as a first-time offender, though a second offense would cost him half the season.
