Florida players poke fun at Gator-on-Gator block

Despite their sixth straight loss as 29-point favorites against Georgia Southern, Florida Gators' players were still able to have some fun Tuesday at the expense of two teammates, who were spotted blocking each other during the 26-20 letdown.

On the play, Solomon Patton took a sweep to the right side, and the center, Jonotthan Harrison, pulled off the line and engaged with wide receiver Quinton Dunbar, who turned around to block around the edge. The two Gators held onto each other without noticing the identity of their block until Patton had been run out of bounds.

"Perfect technique and everything. [Harrison] should have [pancaked him]. He got in his way," guard Jon Halapio quipped of the blocking blunder, adding, "we were all in the locker room joking around about it. I've never seen anything like it."

Just a year removed from an 11-1 regular season, the Gators are now 4-7 in 2013 after losing to the FCS team, but even members of the coaching staff chuckled at the tape.

"Sometimes you have to laugh," offensive coordinator Brent Pease said. "I mean, I'm just like, that is ... c'mon.

"The only thing I'd say is, 'Hey, I know what Jon was doing, he's trying to get around,' I guess I'd tell Quinton to keep his eyes open a little bit."
