Ryan Williams eyes revenge on Vandy: 'Gonna kill an ant with a sledgehammer'
Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams guaranteed a win over Vanderbilt in 2025 after falling to the Commodores last season in a stunning 40-35 upset.
"Going into this game, we don't call them revenge games, we're going to kill an ant with a sledgehammer this year," Williams told Barstool Sports' Jon Gruden, per On3.
Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia responded to Williams' comments on Instagram with a screenshot of Gucci Mane lyrics that reads, "They actin' like they tough but don't want no confrontation."
Pavia excelled in the early October contest, completing 16 of 20 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns while adding 56 yards on the ground. The signal-caller then went viral for exclaiming, "Vandy, we're f-----g turnt" during a postgame interview.
Alabama's loss came just one week after the Crimson Tide defeated Georgia 41-34 in one of the best games of the 2024 college football season.
"Man, they just played a better football game than us that game," Williams added about losing to Vanderbilt. "We came out slow, and they capitalized. They held the ball, they had their game plan, and they executed it."
Alabama will host Vanderbilt on Oct. 4.
