Oklahoma running back Kennedy Brooks declared for the 2022 NFL Draft on Thursday, hours after he rushed for 142 yards and three touchdowns in the Alamo Bowl.

Brooks ends his college career as one of three players in Sooners history with three 1,000-yard rushing seasons. He finished his junior year with 1,253 yards and 13 touchdowns after leading Oklahoma past Oregon in the bowl game.

Brooks broke onto the scene as a low-level four-star recruit in 2018. He led the Sooners in rushing that year while splitting carries with Trey Sermon and seized the starting role in 2019 ahead of Rhamondre Stevenson. Brooks sat out the 2020 season while COVID-19 wreaked havoc across college football.

The Mansfield, Texas, native will look to become the fifth running back to be drafted from Oklahoma since 2017, following in the footsteps of Joe Mixon, Samaje Perine, Rodney Anderson, and Stevenson.

With Brooks leaving, Eric Gray figures to have the inside track to start at running back in 2022.
