North Carolina's Carter, Williams combine for FBS rushing record vs. Miami
The North Carolina duo of Michael Carter and Javonte Williams ended the 2020 regular season in style with a historic performance Saturday against Miami.
The two running backs were absolutely unstoppable, rushing for an astonishing 544 yards and five touchdowns in a 62-26 win. It's the most rushing yards by a set of teammates in a single game in FBS history, eclipsing the previous mark of 504 yards set by MiQuale Lewis and Cory Sykes for Ball State.
The Tar Heels entered play ranked 20th in the country in rushing, averaging 218.6 yards per game. It didn't take long for them to fly past that total, as both Carter and Williams turned in multiple highlight-reel runs in the contest:
This run by Javonte Williams was absolutely ridiculous! 👏🏾
