Maryland announced Saturday that it has temporarily suspended voluntary football workouts following recent COVID-19 testing.
The university screened 185 student-athletes and staff July 7 and 8. Nine individuals tested positive.
The Terrapin student-athletes and staff who tested positive are currently in self-isolation and will be monitored by health officials.
Football programs were allowed to invite players back to campus starting in early June. A number of big-time schools have recently reported multiple positive tests, including Clemson, Texas, and Alabama.
The Big Ten announced Thursday that it will cancel all non-conference games this year in hopes of limiting the pandemic's impact on the 2020 college football campaign.
