Report: Penn State QB Johnson enters transfer portal

Penn State redshirt freshman quarterback Michael Johnson Jr. has entered the transfer portal, according to ESPN's Tom VanHaaren.
Johnson was expected to battle with Ta'Quan Roberson for the No. 3 role at Penn State behind starter Sean Clifford and sophomore Will Levis.
A former four-star quarterback prospect, Johnson didn't attempt a pass for the Nittany Lions last season.
Penn State made Johnson surplus to requirements by signing quarterback Micah Bowens as part of its 2020 recruiting class.
