KJ Costello transferring from Stanford to Mississippi State
Mike Leach has reeled in his first major piece at Mississippi State.
Former Stanford quarterback KJ Costello announced Monday on Instagram that he's joining the Bulldogs.
Costello announced his intention to transfer in December after fighting through an injury-plagued season with the Cardinal. He completed 61.1% of his pass attempts for 1,038 yards in 2019 with six touchdowns and three interceptions while appearing in five games, two of which were victories.
Davis Mills started eight games for Stanford, finishing the year with 1,960 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and five interceptions.
Mississippi State went 6-7 and finished fifth in the SEC West with sophomore Garrett Shrader leading the team in passing with 1,170 yards, while also throwing eight touchdown passes and five interceptions. He'll likely remain and compete for the starting role in 2020.
Leach joined Mississippi State in January after spending eight years at Washington State.
