It appears Ohio State will soon be down yet another quarterback.
Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day confirmed Thursday that redshirt freshman Matthew Baldwin will enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to ABC 6's Clay Hall.
Baldwin was expected to compete with Georgia transfer Justin Fields for the team's starting role, battling to replace Dwayne Haskins, who is expected to be a first-round selection in next week's NFL draft.
Fields was the presumed favorite to start after joining Ohio State, but Baldwin outperformed the former five-star recruit during the team's spring game.
The departure of Baldwin would mark the second loss at quarterback for the Buckeyes this offseason after Tate Martell transferred to Miami in January.
