Illinois lands Jeff Thomas in transfer from Miami

Illinois has brought in wide receiver Jeff Thomas from Miami, the school announced Friday night.
The native of East Saint Louis will have two years of eligibility left for the Fighting Illini. He caught 35 passes for 563 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore for the Hurricanes last season.
Thomas was a four-star recruit and ESPN's No. 55 prospect in the class of 2017. He played in all 13 games as a true freshman and caught 17 passes for 374 yards and two scores.
Sophomore Ricky Smalling was the Illini's leading receiver in 2018, catching 33 balls for 406 yards with five touchdowns.
