Saban: Tagovailoa won't miss practice as knee has improved
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) Alabama coach Nick Saban expects quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to practice Monday and play against Tennessee this week.
Tagovailoa aggravated a sprained right knee in the third quarter against Missouri Saturday night and didn't return. Saban said Monday that Tagovailoa is ''probably better this week than he was last week'' and hasn't missed a practice.
He says the nation's highest rated passer could have returned to the Missouri game. The top-ranked Crimson Tide won 39-10 and backup Jalen Hurts played the rest of the way.
Tagovailoa hurt his knee against Arkansas and tweaked it again while sliding at the end of a run.
Saban says receiver DeVonta Smith is day to day with a pulled hamstring. Alabama plays at Tennessee on Saturday.
He also says defensive lineman Raekwon Davis could miss some playing time. Davis was penalized for throwing several punches at Missouri offensive lineman on the ground after a play.
