Heisman Power Rankings: Movement all around after wild week

Whew. What a week.

After a wild slate of games, there's plenty of changes within our Heisman Power Rankings. Will Grier and Jonathan Taylor are no longer on the list - the former after a poor performance and the latter due to his team's second loss of the season - while two new players have emerged.

Overall, it's looking more and more like a two-horse race. Here are the top five Heisman Trophy candidates following Week 7:

5. Travis Etienne, RB - Clemson

The Tigers were on a bye in Week 7, but it's time for Etienne to start receiving the national attention he deserves. As the focal point of the No. 3-ranked Clemson offense, the sophomore rusher is difficult to slow down due to his elite explosiveness and surprising toughness. Over his last four games, Etienne is averaging an absurd 10.2 yards per carry with 10 total touchdowns. After a fairly easy schedule to open the season, Clemson will face stiffer tests in the second half, beginning with No. 16 N.C. State on Saturday. If Etienne continues his dominance, he'll cement himself as the top Heisman contender at running back.

4. Justin Herbert, QB - Oregon

Based on inefficient play from a few of his fellow quarterbacks, Herbert finds himself squarely in contention to be invited to New York as a Heisman finalist. The junior didn't have his best statistical performance against Washington in Week 7, but still led his team to a thrilling upset over a top-10 squad. Herbert's as efficient as any quarterback in the country, but he also airs it out when given the opportunity. If Oregon reaches the Pac-12 championship game, its signal-caller could be the Heisman dark horse.

3. Kyler Murray, QB - Oklahoma

Murray spared the Big 12 in Week 7 with the Sooners on a bye, but that hasn't impacted his ranking. For the season, the redshirt junior ranks inside the top three nationwide in passing touchdowns, passing efficiency, total points scored, and yards per completion. Oklahoma remains in the driver's seat to reach the conference championship game - although West Virginia will pose a tough matchup - so perhaps Murray can eventually jump the Heisman front-runners.

2. Tua Tagovailoa, QB - Alabama

Breathe easy, Crimson Tide fans - Tua's knee injury suffered against Missouri doesn't appear to be serious. And before exiting the game, Tagovailoa was his usual productive self, throwing for 265 yards and three touchdowns on just 12 completions. Alabama's offense remains unstoppable, and its signal-caller is pulling all the strings. The star sophomore is simply the nation's most lethal passer, dominating opposing defenses on seemingly every drive and refusing to turn the ball over. November will be a telling month for Tua, as he'll face off against LSU, Mississippi State, and Auburn. A continued assault on the SEC will land Tagovailoa a plethora of postseason hardware.

1. Dwayne Haskins, QB - Ohio State

Welcome back, Mr. Haskins. The redshirt sophomore reclaims the top spot after a historic afternoon that saw him become the first-ever Ohio State quarterback to throw for 400 yards twice in his career, accomplishing the feat in back-to-back games. In Week 7, Haskins completed 33 of 44 passes for a whopping 455 yards and three touchdowns. For the season, he owns a 72.3 completion percentage to go with 29 total touchdowns and just four interceptions. Simply put, Haskins cannot be stopped. The quarterback has his Buckeyes squad in prime position to compete for a national title.
