Texas' Ehlinger ruled out of Baylor game with shoulder injury

Erich Schlegel / USA TODAY Sports

Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger suffered a shoulder injury in the first half Saturday against Baylor and was later ruled out for the remainder of the contest.

The sophomore initially departed the game with injuries to his shoulder and throwing hand. He returned to the sideline after a brief trip to the locker room, emerging from the tunnel with a bandage covering part of his right hand.

Junior Shane Buechele replaced Ehlinger in the huddle.

Ehlinger was excellent for the Longhorns through his first six outings of the year, throwing for 1,499 yards and 11 touchdowns against two interceptions.

Texas entered the day with a 5-1 record and ranked ninth in the AP Poll.
