Clemson is officially making a change at quarterback, as freshman Trevor Lawrence was announced as the team's starter for Saturday's game versus Syracuse, via Matt Fortuna of The Athletic.

Lawrence had been part of a rotation with former starter Kelly Bryant prior to the change.

The former five-star recruit has impressed when on the field, throwing nine touchdown passes and completing 64 percent of his throws. He threw for 176 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception in Saturday's win over Georgia Tech.

Meanwhile, Bryant reverts to the bench after leading Clemson to the College Football Playoff last season. The senior has rushed the ball well but has only thrown two touchdowns during four starts in 2018. He attempted just 10 passes in each of his last two games.
