Heisman Power Rankings: It's the year of the QB

While college football is ripe with talented players, no position has proved to be more stacked in 2018 than quarterback.

The Heisman Trophy race will be no different, as a number of talented signal-callers lead dynamic offenses across the country.

Here are the top five Heisman candidates after Week 4's slate of games:

5. Justin Herbert, QB - Oregon

Even after Oregon's heartbreaking loss to Stanford, Herbert enters the Heisman race due to a stellar contest. Simply put, he's one of the most talented passers in the nation, displaying NFL-level accuracy and poise under pressure. If the junior can continue his excellent play and lead the Ducks to victory in their next two games - against No. 24 California and No. 11 Washington - he'll emerge as a legitimate contender for college football's most prestigious individual honor. Herbert certainly has the talent to do so.

4. Kyler Murray, QB - Oklahoma

The Sooners were nearly upset by Army in a pay-per-view thriller, but Murray still turned in another productive evening. It wasn't the redshirt junior's best game of the season - which says more about his dominant 2018 campaign than anything - but he threw a clutch touchdown to CeeDee Lamb in overtime to help secure the win. Army dominated time of possession, yet Murray finished with four total scores, further establishing himself as one of the country's most dynamic offensive weapons. He's probably a step behind his Heisman-contending peers, but he'll have key October matchups against Texas and TCU to help boost his resume.

3. Will Grier, QB - West Virginia

After Hurricane Florence canceled West Virginia's Week 3 tilt, Grier resumed his usual dominance against Kansas State. He threw for 356 passing yards and five touchdowns, putting the senior passer back among the leading Heisman candidates. He's thrown for at least 332 yards and four touchdowns in his first three games, leading an explosive offense into Big 12 contention. The Mountaineers have a fairly easy October schedule ahead, giving Grier every opportunity to pad his already eye-popping stats in the coming weeks. Don't expect opposing defenses to slow him down anytime soon.

2. Dwayne Haskins, QB - Ohio State

Haskins only needed one half to dominate Tulane, continuing his torrid pace to start the season. The redshirt sophomore had more touchdowns (five) than incompletions (three) against the Green Wave, becoming the first player in Big Ten history to have multiple five-touchdown games in the first four contests of a season. Haskins is putting up points for Ohio State, but his accuracy and mistake-prone play have been nothing short of spectacular. The quarterback ranks second in the nation with a 75.7 completion percentage and is averaging more than 10 yards per pass attempt. Haskins will face his toughest test to date this week with a trip to No. 9 Penn State.

1. Tua Tagovailoa, QB - Alabama

There's still no stopping Tua. Saturday's victory over Texas A&M was the sophomore's best statistical showing of the young season, as he threw for 387 yards and four touchdowns while adding a score on the ground for good measure. Through four games, the dynamic quarterback has accumulated 1,033 passing yards, 13 total touchdowns, zero interceptions, and a nation-leading 12.9 yards per attempt to lead Alabama's unstoppable offense. The Crimson Tide's next four games will come against Louisiana-Lafayette, Arkansas, Missouri, and Tennessee, so expect Tagovailoa to continue his torrid pace as the Heisman frontrunner. There isn't a more exciting player in college football.
