Harbaugh told ex-Michigan QB not to eat chicken 'because it's a nervous bird'
Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has some strange opinions about chickens.
In an interview with Bleacher Report's Matt Hayes, former Michigan and current UCLA quarterback Wilton Speight recalled a conversation he had early in his Wolverines tenure in which Harbaugh told him not to eat chicken. When Speight asked why, Harbaugh replied, "because it's a nervous bird."
Speight added, "He thinks some type of sickness injected its way into the human population when people began eating white meats instead of beef and pork, and he believes it, 100 percent."
Speight's interview was part of a feature on Wolverines quarterback Shea Patterson, who spoke about his relationship with Harbaugh.
"He's as real as it gets. He's just how you'd think he'd be. He's definitely a character, a little bizarre," Patterson said. "You'll be sitting there talking to him, and you're thinking, 'What the hell is this guy talking about? Is this real life?' But I really like him."
