Report: Josh Jackson staying at Virginia Tech after rumored academic issue
Ben Queen-USA TODAY Sports
Virginia Tech quarterback Josh Jackson will remain on the team, despite reports that an academic problem had jeopardized his future with the Hokies, sources told David Teel of the Daily Press.
Details of the issue Jackson encountered remain unclear, but it has reportedly been settled.
Jackson started all 13 games as a freshman last year, throwing for 2,991 yards with 20 touchdowns against nine interceptions. He led the Hokies to a nine-win season, and is one of the top returning quarterbacks in the ACC.
There's no indication that Jackson will face a suspension for his academic hiccup, according to Andy Bitter of The Roanoke Times, meaning he should be available for the season-opener Sept. 3 versus Florida State.
