Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer named sophomore Dwayne Haskins the successor to graduated pivot J.T. Barrett.

"Dwayne is our starting quarterback," Meyer said at a school event Friday night, according to Bill Landis of Cleveland.com.

Haskins was the presumed favorite for the starting job throughout the spring. He was in competition with Tate Martell and Joe Burrow - the latter eventually transferred to LSU - for the role.

In limited action last season, Haskins completed 40 of 57 passes for 565 yards with four touchdowns and one interception.

The Buckeyes host Oregon State to open the 2018 season Sept. 1.
