Lincoln Riley not a fan of Oklahoma's early kickoffs

The kickoff times for four games of Oklahoma's 2018 season were released Thursday, and it's safe to say Lincoln Riley isn't pleased with the schedule.

The Sooners second-year head coach questioned why three of the four announced kickoff times comes at noon or earlier.

"I had to talk to (athletic director) Joe (Castiglione) to blow off some steam before I came in here on that one," Riley said, according to John E. Hoover of 107.7 The Franchise. "I don't agree with it, but we're not (the) only ones making the call on it. There needs to be some equity. You don't need to have a string of 'em."

Oklahoma opens the campaign at home against Florida Atlantic on Sept. 1 at 11:00 a.m. CT, before hosting UCLA in Norman the following week at noon. Week 3 will also see an early start as the Sooners travel to Iowa State for another 11:00 a.m. kickoff.

Riley's outfit finally gets a night game on Nov. 23 when it travels to West Virginia for a 7:00 p.m. CT beginning.

Three straight weeks of morning kickoffs to open the season will be tough on the young Sooners, especially with star quarterback Baker Mayfield now in the NFL.
